Lisa AM Unrath, MEdL | Lisa@CASABerks.org
Lisa AM Unrath was born and raised here in Berks County. For the past 26 years she has spent her educational career working in public and nonprofit settings. The career has encompassed the Reading and Philadelphia School Districts, both high needs urban districts. She worked at the National Constitution Center when it first opened as the Education Coordinator. Her career also had her as a Community Zone Specialist working with OCDEL and PA Keys via BCIU 14 here in Berks County.
She studied three and half years at Temple University before transferring (due to a professor strike) and graduated from Alvernia University (1991). She attended Lehigh University to attain her Masters in Urban Education Leadership from Lehigh University (2013). She chose Lehigh and this program for its focus on the unique needs that urban areas have and the leadership skills needed to adequately meet the needs of the community. Professionally she holds Elementary (k-6), Middle Years Language Arts, Middle Years Civics, and Administration (k-12). She has received numerous awards during her career.
Lisa lives in Northern Berks County with her husband, Tom, and puppy, Charlay on the ‘Ridge’, and has two grown step-children. She enjoys her family, faith, and friends, reading, entertaining, and being civically engaged in the community. She has several mantras, the two most important: LEAVE THE WORLD BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT and DO BETTER WHEN YOU KNOW BETTER.
Lisa shares, "I am excited and humbled to be asked to work with and lead the incredible volunteers that make CASA Berks what it is today. I look forward to working with them and the dedicated Board in growing the footprint and impact of CASA Berks moving forward."
Christa Yeager | Christa@CASABerks.org
Christa started with CASA of Berks County as a CASA volunteer in March 2016 and became a Volunteer Manager in August 2017. Born and raised in West Chester, PA, Christa moved to Berks County following graduation where she lives with her husband of 24 years. Christa is a mom of seven children and a grandmother of two grandchildren.
Over the years, Christa has been involved with her community through church outreach with a focus on children's ministry, holding positions as Nursery Supervisor and Sunday School Superintendent. Christa continues to teach elementary and middle school science for a local home school co-op.
As a volunteer, Christa became passionate for the program and for what it stands for, believing that every child facing abuse and neglect should have a CASA to help ensure their right to a safe and permanent home. She writes, "As a CASA you can impact a small part of a child's success and their future, something every child deserves."
